Ingredients list for Papaya Chi Wadi

  • 1 small small Raw Mango
  • 1 medium Gram flour
  • 5-6 cloves Garlic
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • 4-5 Green chillies
  • 1/4 medium Fresh coriander leaves bunch
  • 2 tablespo Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat masala

  1. Peel, wash and grate papaya. Peel, wash and finely chop onion. Peel and wash garlic and ginger. Remove stems and wash green chillies. Grind ginger, garlic and green chillies to a fine paste using little water. When it cools divide into sixteen equal portions. Roll into balls and flatten slightly. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry papaya wadis till crisp and golden. DWhen it cools divide into sixteen equal portions. Roll into balls and flatten slightly.   2. Clean, wash and finely chop coriander leaves. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan, add onion and sauté till light brown. Add ginger-garlic-green chilli paste and sauté for two minutes. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and sauté for a minute.
  3. Stir well and add grated papaya and cook for five minutes. Sprinkle lemon juice stir, add gram flour, stir well. Cover with a lid and cook for five to seven minutes stirring occasionally. Remove pan from heat, transfer mixture into a plate.
