History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Mithai Toast Recipe

  • White bread slices 8

  • Motichoor laddoos 1

  • Pedas 2

  • Kaju katli 2

  • Anjeer burfi 2

  • Orange juice 1 cup

  • Butter as required

  • Cinnamon powder a pinch

  • Honey 1 tablespoon

Method

Step 1

Pour orange juice in a non-stick pan and cook till slightly reduced.

Step 2

Put motichoor laddoo in a bowl and add pedas. Roughly slice kaju katli and add and mash all of them the back of a spoon. Roughly chop anjeer burfi and add and mix well.

Step 3

Lightly butter the bread slices, spread the mithai mixture over 4 slices. Cover them with the remaining bread slices and press slightly.

Step 4

Apply a little butter on both the outer sides of the sandwiches. Apply a little butter on the inside of the sandwich toaster. Place a sandwich in it and toast over medium heat, turning sides, till golden on both sides.

Step 5

Add cinnamon powder to the thickened orange juice. Add honey to orange juice and mix well.

Step 6

Halve the sandwiches to make triangles. Keep them over a serving plate, drizzle the orange juice over them and serve immediately.
