Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Masala Sesame Potatoes Recipe

  • White sesame seeds 1 teaspoon to garnish

  • Black sesame seeds 1 teaspoon to garnish

  • Baby potatoes boiled and peeled 2 cups

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 2 teaspoons

  • Ginger finely chopped 2 teaspoons

  • Green chillies finely chopped 2

  • Medium onion finely chopped 1

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Chaat masala 1/2 teaspoon

  • Spring onion greens chopped as required


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, ginger, green chillies and onion, mix and sauté till onion is translucent.

Step 2

Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and some water and mix well.

Step 3

Add potatoes and salt, mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.

Step 4

Add some water and mix. Add white and black sesame seeds and chaat masala and mix well.

Step 5

Add spring onion greens and mix well. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot garnished with black sesame seeds, white sesame seeds and spring onions.
