How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Kesari Phirni Recipe

  • Basmati rice soaked 50 grams

  • Saffron a few strands

  • Pistachios chopped 8-10

  • Sugar 1 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Rose water a few drops

Method

Step 1

Bring the milk to a boil in a deep pan.

Step 2

Lower the heat and let it simmer till it reduces a little. Grind the soaked rice to a coarse paste.

Step 3

Add a little milk to it and mix to make it a little thinner.
