Ingredients list for Hazelnut and Chocolate Clafoutis
- as required Hazelnuts 100 grams +
- 1 cup Refined flour (maida)
- 50 grams Dark chocolate roughly chopped
- for greasing Unsalted butter ½ cup + 2 teaspoons +
- a pinch Salt
- 115 grams Almonds
- ¼ cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)
- 2 Eggs
- 3 Egg yolks
- Zest of 2 oranges
- Orange juice
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 Vanilla pod
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Toast the hazelnuts in the preheated oven for five to ten minutes. Remove from oven, cool and grind finely.
- Melt the butter gently in a non-stick pan.
- Grease four ramekin moulds with some butter and dust with some of the ground hazelnuts.
- Sieve together the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the almonds, castor sugar, eggs, egg yolks, orange zest and milk and mix well.
- Scrape out the seeds from the vanilla pod into the mixture and mix. Add the melted butter and orange juice and mix.
- Transfer the prepared mixture into the greased moulds and add chocolate to each. Place the moulds on a baking tray, put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for fifteen minutes.
- Serve hot.
