Ingredients list for Hak

  • 2 bunches Spinach
  • 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tablespoon Asafoetida


  1. Remove stems, wash spinach thoroughly in running water. Drain and chop finely. Mix the red chilli powder in two tablespoons of water and keep aside. Mix the asafoetida in one teaspoon water and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a vessel, add the cumin seeds and allow them to crackle. Add the asafoetida water, red chilli water, turmeric powder, spinach, salt, one fourth cup water and mix well. Cook uncovered till all the water has dried and oil surfaces on top. Sprinkle ver and serve hot.
