Ingredients list for Gongura Pachadi

  • 1 bunch Gongura leaves stemmed
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 4-5 Whole dry red chilli stemmed
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 tablespoon Split Bengal gram (chana dal) soaked
  • to taste Salt


  1. Heat one tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds, dry red chillies, hing and chana dal and saute for a minute.
  2. Remove and allow to cool.Heat remaining oil in a non-stick pan. Add the leaves and saute till it dries up. Add salt and cook for a minute.
  3. Remove and allow to cool.Transfer it to a blender and blend with the above mixture to a fine powder. Serve.
