Ingredients list for Gajarachi Pachadi
- 2 medium Carrots
- 2 tablespoons Split Green Gram Skinless
- 2-3 Green chillies
- 1/4 medium bunch Fresh coriander leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Coconut scraped
- For tempering
- 2 teaspoons Ghee
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- a pinch Asafoetida
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
Method
- Pick moong dal, wash two to three times with plenty of water and soak in water for an hour, drain.
- Peel carrots, wash and grate them.
- Remove stems, wash green chillies and chop finely.
- Clean coriander leaves, wash well and then chop.
- Combine grated carrot, soaked moong dal, chopped green chillies, red chilli powder and salt together.
- Blend the above mixture, add lemon juice and check the seasoning.
- For tempering heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds.
- When they crackle add asafoetida, turmeric powder and stir.
- Take off the heat, add to prepared carrot mixture.
- Mix it well.
- Serve garnished with chopped coriander leaves and scraped coconut.
