Ingredients list for Fried Prawn Balls

  • 2 cups Prawns (kolambi/jhinga) peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • 1/4 cup Spring onion greens chopped
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • 1/4 cup Cornflour/ corn starch
  • 1/2 Lemon cut into 4 wedges
  • to garnish Pepper salt

  1. Put prawns, salt, black pepper powder and spring onion greens in a food processor and process until smooth. Transfer the mixture into a small bowl.
  2. Heat sufficient oil in a wok.
  3. Add cornflour to the prawn mixture and mix well.
  4. Grease a tablespoon and scoop two tablespoons of the prawn mixture and shape into a ball. Gently lower the balls into the hot oil and deep-fry till lightly browned. Drain on a wire rack. Repeat this process till all the mixture is used up.
  5. Place the prawns balls on a serving plate and serve hot, garnished with lemon wedges and pepper salt.
