Doodh Nakhela Leelva

Broad beans tempered with whole spices and cooked in delicious milk based curry with green garlic. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients 

  • 500 grams broad beans (sem ki phalli/papdi)
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick 
  • 4-5 cloves
  • A pinch of soda bicarbonate
  • 2 cups milk
  • 5 grams peanuts, ground coarsely
  • 5 green chillies
  • 1 inch ginger piece 
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green garlic 
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves 

Method

  1. Wash and dry the leelva. Grind ginger and green chillies to a fine paste. Grind cinnamon and cloves roughly.
  2. Heat oil add cloves and cinnamon and sauté for a minute. Add around 2-3 Cups of water. When the water comes to boil add leelva.
  3. Cook till the water is dried up and the leelva is cooked. Add milk and peanuts. Once the milk boils, reduce heat and simmer till it thickens.
  4. Add the ginger-green chilli paste and salt and simmer for few more minutes. Remove and serve hot garnished with chopped garlic and chopped coriander leaves.
