History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.

Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Coconut Kulfi - Cook Smart Recipe

  • Coconut milk powder 6 tablespoons

  • Tender coconut flesh 1 cup

  • Fresh coconut grated 2 teaspoons

  • Milk 1 litres

  • Khoya grated 4 tablespoons

  • Sugar 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Heat milk in a deep non-stick pan. Add coconut milk powder, mix well and let it reduce.

Step 2

Add khoya, mix well and cook till it thickens.

Step 3

Place coconut flesh in a grinder jar and grind finely. Add ground coconut flesh to the pan and mix well. Add grated coconut and mix well.

Step 4

Add sugar, mix well and cook till the sugar melts. Switch off heat and cool down to room temperature.

Step 5

Pour into aluminium kulfi moulds, cover with the lid and freeze till set. Serve.
