Ingredients for Christmas Pudding Recipe

  • Refined Flour 3/4 cup

  • Spices a pinch

  • Bread crumbs 3/4 cup

  • Butter 4 tablespoons

  • Cinnamon powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Nutmeg powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Mace powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Lemon rind 1/2 teaspoon

  • Brown sugar 1/2 cup

  • Raisins 1/2 cup

  • Sultanas 1/2 cup

  • Cherries 1/4 cup

  • Candied lemon finely chopped 1/4 cup

  • Almonds blanched, peeled and chopped 1/4 cup

  • Carrot peeled & finely chopped 1/2 cup

  • Eggs beaten 3

  • Orange juice 1/2 cup

  • Sherry 2 tablespoons

  • Rum optional 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Sieve flour and salt together. Mix in breadcrumbs with the flour. Rub in butter into the flour and breadcrumb mixture.

Step 2

Add spice powders, lemon rind, sugar, dried fruits, candied peels and nuts. Add carrot, lightly beaten eggs and orange juice.

Step 3

Add sherry, rum and leave it covered overnight. Next day transfer the batter into two moulds, cover with greaseproof paper and foil and then steam in a double boiler continuously for seven hours at a steady temperature.

Step 4

When done cover and keep it overnight in a cool place. Reheat for atleast two hours before serving.
