Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Prep Time : 16-20 minutes

Cook time : 21-25 minutes

Ingredients for Chicken and Caramelised Onion Sandwich Recipe

  • Boneless chicken breast boiled and shredded 1

  • Medium onions sliced into rings and layers separated 2

  • White bread triangular slices 8

  • Butter 1 tablespoon

  • Salt 1 pinch

  • Fresh thyme sprigs 2

  • Sugar 1/2 teaspoon

  • Melted butter as required

  • Cheddar cheese grated as required

  • Mozzarella cheese grated as required

  • French fries to serve


Step 1

Heat butter in a non-stick pan and when it melts, add onion rings, salt, thyme and sugar and saute till onions are golden brown. Discard the thyme.

Step 2

For each sandwich, take 2 bread slices, apply melted butter on both sides and place them on the worktop. Place some caramelised onions on one slice, on that place some shredded chicken, some cheddar cheese and some mozzarella cheese. Cover with the second slice.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick pan, place the sandwich in it and cook till the underside turns golden brown, flip and cook till the other side turns golden brown and cheese melts.

Step 4

Halve the sandwich and place on a serving plate and serve hot with French fries.
