Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Cook time : 21-25 minutes

Ingredients for Chicken With Dates Recipe

  • Chicken Cut into 12 pieces on the bone 750 grams

  • Dates seeded 10-15

  • Oil 3 tablespoons

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Refined flour (maida) 2 tablespoons

  • Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon

  • Shallots 12-15

  • Mushrooms stems removed 8-10

  • Red wine 1/4 cup

  • Chicken stock 2 cups

  • Tomato puree 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Heat oil in a non stick pan. Chop onion in a chopper. Sprinkle maida, salt and ½ tsp pepper powder over the chicken pieces and mix well and place them in the pan in a single layer and cook on high heat, turning sides, till they get lightly coloured. Drain and place them in a bowl.

Step 2

Add shallots and mushrooms and saute for 1 minute. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add chopped onion and saute for 2 minutes. Add red wine and mix well.

Step 3

Add chicken, dates, chicken stock and tomato puree and mix. Add salt, remaining black pepper powder and mix. When it comes to a boil, cover and cook on low for 20-25 minutes. Serve hot.
