Ingredients list for Cheese Sables
- 150 grams Cheddar cheese grated
- 1 1/2 cups Refined flour (maida)
- a pinch Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Paprika powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper powder
- 1 1/2 cups Chilled butter diced
- 1 tablespoon Milk
- 1 teaspoon Black and white sesame seeds
Method
- Sieve flour, salt, paprika powder, mustard powder, cumin powder and pepper powder into a bowl. Add butter and mix well.
- Add cheese and half cup water and mix well. Knead into soft dough.
- Tap the dough lightly on worktop, roll into a log, wrap in cling film and keep in the refrigerator for two to three hours or till firm.
- Preheat oven to 180° C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Remove the cling film from the log, brush with milk and coat with sesame seeds.
- Slice the log into thick discs and arrange on the parchment paper, and spacing them well apart.
- Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for twelve to fifteen minutes.
- Arrange the sables on a serving plate and serve warm.
