Ingredients
- 1 medium cabbage, shredded
- ½ cup Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 6-8 curry leaves
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons scrapped coconut
- Chopped fresh coriander for garnish
Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds. When cumin seeds change color, add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add split Bengal gram and sauté for 2-3 minutes or till they turn golden brown.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, turmeric. Mix well.
- Add cabbage and salt. Mix well, cover and cook on low flame till the cabbage and Bengal gram are completely cooked.
- Add the scrapped coconut and mix well.
- Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander.
