Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Apple Seviyan Kheer Recipe

  • Red apples 2 medium

  • Vermicelli 2 cups

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Reduced milk 2 cups

  • Sweet condensed milk 200 grams

  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Almonds , slivered 6-8 + to garnish

  • Sugar 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Quarter apples and remove core. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Grate apples with skin and add to the pan and saute for 4-5 minutes or till light brown.

Step 2

Break vermicelli and add, and saute for 1-2 minutes or till lightly browned. Add reduced milk, mix well and let the vermicelli cook.

Step 3

Add sweet condensed milk and mix well. Add green cardamom powder and almonds and mix well.

Step 4

Add sugar and mix well and cook till sugar melts.

Step 5

Transfer into a serving bowls, garnish with almond slivers and serve hot.
