Ingredients list for Vendaikkai Pachadi

  • 8 Ladyfingers trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon Yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 Whole dry red chillies
  • 1/4 teaspoon Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal)
  • 1 tablespoon Tamarind pulp
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Jaggery (gur) grated
  • 2 cups Yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Rice flour

Method

  1. Cut ladyfingers into one inch long pieces. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry mustard seeds, red chilli and urad dal. When mustard crackles, add ladyfinger pieces and sauté for two-three minutes.
  2. Add tamarind pulp and salt. Cover and cook till done. Add grated jaggery and yogurt and mix well. Mix rice flour with a little water and add to the pachadi. Cook for a minute and
    Remove from heat. Allow to cool to room temperature and serve.
