Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Chutney Rolls Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed 4 large

  • Green Chutney 1 cup

  • Gram flour (besan) 4 tablespoons

  • Rice flour 1/4 tablespoon

  • White pepper powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Bread crumbs 1/2 cup

  • Oil for deep-frying

Method

Step 1

In a bowl, combine together potatoes, gram flour, rice flour, white pepper powder and salt. Mix well. Divide mixture into equal portions.

Step 2

Roll out each portion into a rectangle and spread green chutney on it. Roll the rectangles into cylinders and cut into even sized pieces. Coat the potato roll in breadcrumbs and set aside.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry the rolls till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
