British cuisine has always been a multicultural - a pot pourri of eclectic styles.  However Britain's culinary expertise is not new! In the past British cooking was amongst the best in the world.  Traditional British cuisine is substantial, yet simple and wholesome. 
British cuisine today has a variety that wipes off the image of grey boiled meat.   In London especially, one can not only experiment with the best of British, but the best of the world as there are many distinct ethnic cuisines to sample, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Greek restaurants are amongst the most popular.

Ingredients for Peach Pie Recipe

  • Peaches 3 medium

  • Sponge cake dark 125 grams

  • Short crust 200 grams

  • Refined flour (maida) for dusting

  • brown sugar/jaggery 2 tablespoons

  • Nutmeg powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Milk for brushi

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven at 180ºC.

Step 2

Peel, deseed and cut the peaches into wedges. Transfer into a bowl.

Step 3

Crumble the dark sponge cake onto a plate.

Step 4

Dust the worktop with some refined flour and roll out the short crust into a thin disc. Cut into a large roundel and remove the excess short crust. Transfer into a baking dish and prick with all over with a knife.

Step 5

Put crumbled dark sponge in the centre of the dough.

Step 6

Add brown sugar and nutmeg powder to the chopped peaches and mix well. Put the peaches over the crumbled sponge.

Step 7

Brush some milk on the edges of the dough and bring in to seal. Brush the edges with some milk. Put the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 8

Serve with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
