Ingredients list for Malabar Paneer

  • 600 grams Paneer 1 inch cubes
  • 1 tbsp + to deep fry Coconut Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 sprig Curry leaves
  • 2 medium Onions chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger paste
  • 2 Green chillies slit
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 cup Coconut milk
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry the paneer pieces till lightly browned. Drain and place them on an absorbent paper.
  2. Heat one tablespoon oil in another kadai, add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds crackle, add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds. Add onions and cook until soft and translucent.
  3. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, green chillies, turmeric powder and the fried paneer pieces. Cook on high heat for half a minute.
  4. Add coconut milk and salt and cook covered on low heat for about ten minutes. Serve hot.
