The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Lavash Recipe

  • Refined flour 1 1/2 cup

  • Fresh Yeast 4 grams

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Salt 1 teaspoon

  • Sesame seeds (til) 1 tablespoon

  • Oil 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Mix yeast, sugar and half a cup of lukewarm water and set aside to ferment. Sieve flour with salt into a bowl. Add the yeast mixture and knead, stretching it from time to time, till you get a soft dough.

Step 2

Set aside covered with a damp cloth to prove for thirty to thirty five minutes or till the dough feels light. Preheat oven to 180°C/350ºF/Gas Mark 4. Grease a baking tray Knock back the dough.

Step 3

Roll out on a floured surface to half-centimeter thick rectangle. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and roll again lightly. Cut into long triangles and place them on a baking tray.

Step 4

Bake in the preheated oven for twenty to twenty minutes or till crisp.
