Ingredients for Jain Gehu Ki Khichdi Recipe

  • Cracked Wheat 1 cup

  • Basmati Rice 1/4 cup

  • Split green gram with skin (chilkewali moong dal) 1/4 cup

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Pure ghee 5 tablespoons

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Wash and soak the wheat, green gram split and rice separately for half an hour. Drain and mix. Heat three tablespoons of ghee, add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Add the drained grains and sauté for three to four minutes.

Step 2

Add five cups of water, salt and pressure cook till two whistles. Lower the heat and cook for another five minutes. Serve garnished with chopped coriander leaves and the remaining ghee.
