Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Healthy Masala Bun Recipe

  • Potatoes 8

  • Pav 2 teaspoons

  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed 4 medium

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 2 teaspoons

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Mixed sprouts boiled 1 cup

  • Butter 5 tablespoons

  • Tomato sauce as required

  • Green chutney as required

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds. After they splutter, add potatoes, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt. Mix well and cook for three to four minutes.

Step 2

Add mixed sprouts and cook further for a minute. Remove and set aside. Slit the pavs horizontally, without cutting them through. Apply four tablespoons butter on the inner side of pavs and stuff them with the prepared potato mixture.

Step 3

Heat a non stick tawa and lightly roast the stuffed pavs with the remaining butter, turning sides, till both sides are evenly golden. Arrange the roasted pavs on serving plate.

Step 4

Cut them into four and serve immediately with tomato sauce and green chutney.
