Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cheese and Paneer Tarlets Recipe

  • Cheese cubes 3 teaspoons

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) 3 teaspoons

  • Brown bread 8 slices

  • Oil as required

  • Jalapenos chopped 1 teaspoon

  • Black olives 1 tablespoon

  • Cherry tomatoes halved 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper powder to taste

  • Fresh basil leaves a few


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Step 2

Trim edges of bread slices and flatten them with rolling pin. Place in muffin tray and put a glass bowl on each cavity. Remove bowls after few minutes.

Step 3

Drizzle little oil on slices and place bowls again and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.

Step 4

Mix cheese cubes, paneer cubes, jalapenos, black olives, cherry tomatoes, salt, pepper powder and torn basil leaves in a bowl.

Step 5

Remove muffin tray from the oven and remove the glass bowls. Fill the bread cups with a spoonful of cheese mixture and put it back in oven and bake for 3-4 minutes more.

Step 6

Serve immediately.
