Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients for Bhutta Ka Khees Recipe

  • Corn kernels 3

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Onion grated 1 medium

  • Ginger chopped 1/2 inch piece

  • Garlic chopped 4-5 cloves

  • Green chillies chopped 4-5

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoons

  • Milk

  • Salt to taste

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Coconut scraped 1/2 cup

  • Fresh coriander leaves 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Remove upper leaves of corn cobs, wash and grate. Heat oil in pan add cumin seeds. When they begin to change colour, add onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies and sauté till light brown.

Step 2

Add asafoetida and turmeric powder and stir well. Add grated corn and sauté for three to four minutes. Add milk and cook for eight to ten minutes. Add sugar, scraped coconut and salt and mix well and cook till dry.

Step 3

Remove from heat. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
