Sweet Chilli Lotus Root Deep fried lotus root slices served mixed with a sweet chilli sauce This recipe is from FoodFood TV channel By Sanjeev Kapoor 11 Jun 2021 in Recipes Course New Update Advertisment Main Ingredients Lotus roots, Sugar Cuisine Fusion Course Main Course Vegetarian Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 11-15 minutes Serve 4 Taste Tangy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Sweet Chilli Lotus Root 2 Lotus roots , well-scrubbed and washed 2 tablespoons Sugar 1 teaspoon Red chilli paste 2 tablespo to deep fry Oil 5-6 Asparagus 2 teaspoons Garlic chopped 1 Medium onion , cubed and layers separated 2 tablespoons Tomato ketchup 2 Spring onions with greens to taste Salt 1 teaspoon Vinegar Method Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Diagonally cut lotus roots into thin slices. Trim asparagus tips and cut the stems into 2 inch pieces. Add lotus roots slices to hot oil and deep-fry. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a non-stick pan, add garlic and saute till golden. Add onion and tomato ketchup and mix. Add asparagus stems and mix. Cut spring onion stems into 1 inch pieces and roughly chop the bulbs and add to the pan and mix well. Add red chilli paste. Drain lotus root slices from hot oil and add to this pan. Add asparagus tips, sugar, salt and vinegar and toss well.
