Ingredients for Strawberry and Plum Jam Recipe

  • Fresh strawberries hulled and roughly chopped 250 grams

  • Plums 250 grams

  • Castor sugar as required

  • Lemon 1/2

Method

Step 1

Halve plums, remove seeds and chop roughly. Put them into a mixer jar. Keep aside some strawberries, add the rest to the plums and grind to a fine puree.

Step 2

Measure the puree and put into a pan and cook. Add equal measure of sugar and stir till it dissolves. Add the reserved strawberries and mix and continue to cook.

Step 3

Squeeze the juice of ½ lemon into the pan and cook till the mixture thickens to jam consistency.

Step 4

To test put a spoonful of jam in a plate and let it cool. If it remains steady when the plate is tilted, it means the jam is done.

Step 5

Pour the jam into sterilized bottle when still hot. Put the lid and store. Use as and when required.
