Strawberry and Plum Jam

Ingredients
- 250 grams fresh strawberries , hulled and roughly chopped
- 250 grams plums
- as required castor sugar
- 1/2 lemon
Method
- Halve plums, remove seeds and chop roughly. Put them into a mixer jar. Keep aside some strawberries, add the rest to the plums and grind to a fine puree.
- Measure the puree and put into a pan and cook. Add equal measure of sugar and stir till it dissolves. Add the reserved strawberries and mix and continue to cook.
- Squeeze the juice of ½ lemon into the pan and cook till the mixture thickens to jam consistency.
- To test put a spoonful of jam in a plate and let it cool. If it remains steady when the plate is tilted, it means the jam is done.
- Pour the jam into sterilized bottle when still hot. Put the lid and store. Use as and when required.
