Ingredients list for Strawberry and Plum Jam

  • 250 grams Fresh strawberries , hulled and roughly chopped
  • 250 grams Plums
  • as required Castor sugar
  • 1/2 Lemon


  1. Halve plums, remove seeds and chop roughly. Put them into a mixer jar. Keep aside some strawberries, add the rest to the plums and grind to a fine puree.
  2. Measure the puree and put into a pan and cook. Add equal measure of sugar and stir till it dissolves. Add the reserved strawberries and mix and continue to cook.
  3. Squeeze the juice of ½ lemon into the pan and cook till the mixture thickens to jam consistency.
  4. To test put a spoonful of jam in a plate and let it cool. If it remains steady when the plate is tilted, it means the jam is done.
  5. Pour the jam into sterilized bottle when still hot. Put the lid and store. Use as and when required.
