Ingredients list for Sopaipilla
- + for dusting Refined flour (maida) 1 cup
- for dusting Icing sugar
- 2 tablespoons Baking powder
- Oil
Method
- Sieve together flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add butter and rub it in with your fingertip still the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add two-third cup of water, mix and knead into a smooth dough. Set aside for five to ten minutes.
- Dust the worktop with some flour, place the dough on it and knead for one to two minutes. Cover and set aside for five minutes.
- Roll out the dough into one-fourth inch thick sheet and cut out roundels with a medium sized cookie cutter.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry the roundels till golden and puffed. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Dust with icing sugar and serve.
