By Sanjeev Kapoor 20 Jun 2016 in Recipes Veg New Update Main Ingredients Refined flour (maida), Fresh yeast Cuisine Turkish Course Breads Prep Time 1-1.30 hour Cook time 1-1.30 hour Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Ingredients list for Simit 2 cups Refined flour (maida) ½ teaspoon Fresh yeast ½ teaspoon Sugar + for greasing Olive oil 1 tablespoon ½ teaspoon Sea salt 1 tablespoon Maple syrup for coating Sesame seeds (til) toasted Method Pour one cup of warm water into a bowl. Add yeast, sugar and oil and whisk well. Add flour and salt, mix and knead into a soft dough. Grease a bowl with some olive oil, place the dough in it and set aside for one hour. Whisk together maple syrup with one tablespoon of water and set aside. Preheat oven to 200°C. Divide the dough into eight equal portions. Take a portion of the dough and start rolling with your hands into a thin long cylinder. Bring together the two ends and start twisting the dough. Gently stretch to make into a ring and seal the edges. Dip the simits in the diluted maple syrup and coat with sesame seeds. Place them on a baking tray and set aside for five to ten minutes. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for twenty to twenty-five minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
