Ingredients list for Prune and Pear Crumble
- 10 Prunes
- 3 Pears
- 1/4 cup + tablespoons Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Ginger grated
- 220 grams Refined flour (maida)
- 115 grams Chilled butter cubes
Method
- Preheat oven to 200° C.
- Quarter pears, remove core and roughly chop them. Put the pieces in a non-stick pan. Add ¼ cup water and 2 tbsps sugar and mix and cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Halve the prunes and add to the pears in the pan. Add grated ginger and cook for 2-3 minutes more. Switch off heat and let the mixture cool.
- Take flour in a large bowl, add butter cubes and rub with finger tips till the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add ¼ cup sugar and mix.
- Put the pear-prune mixture in a glass baking dish but do not level it. Sprinkle the flour mixture over it. Keep the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let it cool slightly, spoon out into serving bowls and serve.
