Ingredients
- 1¼ cups moong dal
- ¼ small cabbage, finely chopped
- ½ small capsicum, finely chopped
- 1-2 green chillies, chopped
- 2 tablespoons freshly chopped coriander leaves
- ½ teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
- ¼ teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1¼ cups fresh breadcrumbs
- Oil for deep frying
- Tomato ketchup to serve
Method
- In a large bowl, add moong daland wash it a few times with sufficient water. Soak it with water for 3-4 hours.
- Drain and coarsely crush ½ of the moong dal and reserve the remaining. Transfer the reserved moong dal and the crushed moong dal in another large bowl.
- Add cabbage, capsicum, green chillies and chopped coriander. Add amchur, lemon juice and salt. Add red chilli powder, garam masala powder and mix till well combined.
Add fresh breadcrumbs and mix well. - Heat sufficient oil in a kadai¸ meanwhile for making the tikkis, take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a ball. Slightly flatten and set aside.
- Drop in the prepared tikkis in the hot oil and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
