Jack Fruit Burfi

Ripe jackfruit cooked with mawa and sugar to make this stupendous burfi. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients list for Jack Fruit Burfi

  • 1/2 medium Jackfruit
  • 1 cup Ghee
  • 4 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Mawa (khoya)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • 1 cup Coconut shredded


  1. Remove skin and separate the segments. Remove the seeds and mince the segments. Heat ghee in a pan, add minced jackfruit and sauté for ten to fifteen minutes or till all the moisture gets absorbed.
  2. Add three cups of water and cook for ten minutes. Add sugar and cook till it dissolves. Add mava and green cardamom powder cook till all the water gets absorbed and mixture resembles a lump.
  3. Lightly grease a thali and transfer the jackfruit mixture onto it and spread it evenly. Garnish with shredded coconut and cut into squares or diamonds. Set aside to cool completely.
  4. Separate the pieces and serve or store in an airtight container. This does not have a long shelf life, so it is best consumed fast.
