By Sanjeev Kapoor 16 Nov 2016 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Milk, Green Cardamom Powder Cuisine Punjabi Course Desserts Prep Time 31-40 minutes Cook time 26-30 minutes Serve 4 Taste Sweet Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Ingredients list for Elaichi Phirni 50 grams Milk 1/2 teaspoon Green Cardamom Powder a few strands Saffron (kesar) 5 cups Milk 1 cup Sugar a few drops Rose water 7-8 Pistachios blanched and sliced Method Soak rice for half an hour. Drain and grind it to a coarse paste. Dissolve saffron in a little warm milk. Bring milk to a boil. Add rice paste dissolved in a little water or cold milk. Cook, stirring constantly, till rice is completely cooked. Add sugar, saffron milk, green cardamom powder and cook till sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add rose water. Pour into individual earthenware or china bowls and garnish with sliced pistachios. Chill in a refrigerator for an hour or two before serving.
