Ingredients list for Date and Walnut Spring Rolls

  • 4-6 Spring roll wrappers
  • 8-10 Dates seeded and finely chopped
  • 6-8 Walnuts finely chopped
  • for deep-frying Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Refined flour (maida)
  • to sprinkle White sesame seeds toasted
  • Honey for drizzling

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan.
  2. Combine dates and walnuts in a bowl and mix well. Set aside.
  3. Dissolve flour in some water to make a thick slurry.
  4. Take each spring roll sheet, take some date-walnut mixture and shape into a thin roll. Place the filling in the center of sheet, roll and apply some slurry on the edges to seal.
  5. Deep-fry each roll in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Arrange rolls on a serving plate, sprinkle some sesame seeds and drizzle some honey on top and serve hot.
