Ingredients list for Dahiwala Cake
- 1 cup Yogurt
- 2 1/4 cups Refined Flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 5 Eggs
- 3/4 cup + for greasing Butter
- 1 cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
- 1 teaspoon Lemon rind grated
- 1 cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)
- 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
Method
- Preheat the oven at 180°C. Grease a cake tin.Sieve together maida, baking powder and baking soda into a bowl.
- Break eggs, separate the whites and yolks.
- Whisk together butter and sugar in a bowl, add 1 egg yolk at a time and keep whisking.
- Add vanilla essence, lemon rind and yogurt and mix well. Fold maida into this batter.
- Whisk egg whites separately and add to the maida mixture.
- Pour the batter into the greased cake tin and bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.
- Remove from the mould and cut into wedges. Arrange the wedges on a serving plate and serve.
