During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Chocolate Coffee Ambrosia Recipe

  • Milk 3 cups

  • Instant Coffee Powder 4 teaspoons

  • Sugar 4 tablespoons

  • Vanilla ice cream 4 scoops

  • Advocaat (liqueur) 4 tablespoons


Step 1

Heat milk and set aside. To make coffee, combine coffee powder and sugar in a large bowl.

Step 2

Add two to three tablespoons of water and whisk for six to eight minutes till it changes colour and turns creamy.

Step 3

Pour this mixture equally into four large cups.

Step 4

Strain milk and pour into the cups till three fourths full and stir gently.

Step 5

Gently place a scoop of ice cream over the coffee in each cup.

Step 6

Drizzle a tablespoon of Advocaat into each cup and serve immediately.
