Ingredients list for Cheese Swiss Fondue
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese grated
- 1 cup Emmenthaler cheese grated
- 1 clove Garlic halved
- 1/2 cup Dry white wine plus 3 tablespoons
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Cornflour/ corn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg powder
- a few piece French bread
Method
- Rub the inside of a pan with cut clove of garlic. Pour in wine and lemon juice and heat gently until bubbling.
- Reduce the heat to low and gradually stir in grated cheese. Continue to heat until cheese melts, stirring frequently.
- In a small bowl, blend cornstarch smoothly with three tablespoons of wine, then stir into cheese mixture and continue to cook, stirring constantly, for two to three minutes until mixture is thick and smooth.
- Mix in nutmeg powder. Do not allow fondue to boil. Take a fondue pot and pour in the sauce.
- Switch it on. To serve, fork up a piece of French bread on a fondue fork and dip into the fondue.
