Ingredients
- 1 medium cabbage, shredded
- 1 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal)
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 6-8 curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon chopped ginger
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method
- Pressure cook the chana dal with 1 cup water till three whistles. Drain and set aside.
- In a non stick pan, heat oil, add curry leaves, mustard seeds, ginger, garlic and onions. Saute well till soft. Add cabbage and toss well. Add salt and ½ cup water.
- Cover and cook on low heat till done.Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, tomatoes and chana dal. Cook for five minutes.Add coriander leaves and serve hot.
