Ingredients list for Chakkuli

  • 2 cups Refined Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame Seeds
  • to taste Salt
  • to deep fry Oil

Method

  1. Sieve the refined flour.
  2. Tie up the flour tightly in a muslin cloth like a potli, place it in a shallow vessel and steam in a cooker for about ten to fifteen minutes.
  3. Take the potli out and set aside to cool.
  4. The maida will set like a hard ball.
  5. Break the maida ball to small pieces, powder them and sieve into a bowl.
  6. Add the sesame seeds and salt to taste and mix.
  7. Add sufficient water to make a soft dough.
  8. Put a portion of the dough in a chakli press and shape into round chaklis on butter paper.
  9. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry the chaklis, a few at a time, till light golden.
  10. Drain and place them on an absorbent paper.
  11. Store in an airtight container when cooled.
