Ingredients list for Chakkuli
- 2 cups Refined Flour
- 2 teaspoons Sesame Seeds
- to taste Salt
- to deep fry Oil
Method
- Sieve the refined flour.
- Tie up the flour tightly in a muslin cloth like a potli, place it in a shallow vessel and steam in a cooker for about ten to fifteen minutes.
- Take the potli out and set aside to cool.
- The maida will set like a hard ball.
- Break the maida ball to small pieces, powder them and sieve into a bowl.
- Add the sesame seeds and salt to taste and mix.
- Add sufficient water to make a soft dough.
- Put a portion of the dough in a chakli press and shape into round chaklis on butter paper.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry the chaklis, a few at a time, till light golden.
- Drain and place them on an absorbent paper.
- Store in an airtight container when cooled.
