Ingredients list for Braided Pesto Bread
- 1 cup Refined flour (maida)
- ½ cup Pesto sauce
- 2 teaspoons Fresh yeast
- ½ cup Lukewarm milk
- ½ teaspoon Castor sugar (caster sugar)
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 100 grams Mozzarella cheese grated
Method
- Mix together yeast, milk and castor sugar in a mixing bowl. Set aside for 5-10 minutes.
- Sift together flour and salt into the yeast mixture. Add oil and knead into a soft dough with enough water. Cover and set aside till it rises and doubles in volume.
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Place the proved dough on the worktop and knock back to release the excess air. Roll out into a rectangle.
- Spread pesto on top, leaving a thin border along the edges. Sprinkle cheese on top. Roll lengthwise and cut into half lengthwise. Turn both with the cut side up and start braiding.
- Place the braided bread on a baking tray. Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 30minutes. Remove from heat and cool.
- Serve.
