British cuisine has always been a multicultural - a pot pourri of eclectic styles.  However Britain's culinary expertise is not new! In the past British cooking was amongst the best in the world.  Traditional British cuisine is substantial, yet simple and wholesome. 
British cuisine today has a variety that wipes off the image of grey boiled meat.   In London especially, one can not only experiment with the best of British, but the best of the world as there are many distinct ethnic cuisines to sample, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Greek restaurants are amongst the most popular.

Ingredients for Banoffee Pie Recipe

  • Readymade short crust pastry dough 250 grams

  • Large ripe bananas 2

  • Brown sugar to sprinkle

  • Cinnamon powder to sprinkle

  • Dulche de leche 400 grams

  • Whipped cream 1 cup

  • Chocolate flakes to garnish


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180° C.

Step 2

Roll out half the dough into a large disc, gently lift it up and place it on a pie dish. Press down the bottom and the sides. Trim off the extra dough hanging from the sides and prick all over with fork.

Step 3

Place a baking paper over the dough disc and spread dried beans on it. Process the remaining dough similarly. Place the pie dishes in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Take them out of the oven and allow to cool.

Step 4

Peel and slice bananas, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon powder over them and set aside.

Step 5

Heat a non-stick pan, add dulche de leche and stir till it softens. Transfer the mixture over the baked pie shells spread it evenly.

Step 6

Arrange the banana pieces neatly on top, spread whipped cream over them making little peaks. Refrigerate till set.

Step 7

Bring them out of the refrigerator, sprinkle chocolate flakes on top, cut into wedges and serve.
