Ingredients list for Andaman Erra Kuttu
- 500 grams Prawns shelled
- 2 medium Onions chopped
- to taste Salt
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 2 cloves Garlic chopped
- 7-8 Black peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon Tender ginger
- 2 cups Coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 Green chilli slit
Method
- De-vein and wash prawns thoroughly. Apply salt and keep aside for fifteen minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions, garlic and peppercorns.
- Fry until the onions and garlic are soft. Add mustard and cumin seeds.
- Mix in tamarind pulp, coconut milk, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and slit green chilli.
- Cover and simmer for ten minutes. Add prawns, simmer for ten minutes or till the prawns are cooked.Serve hot.
