Ingredients list for Achari Aloo Ki Tahiri

  • 2 tablespoons Mixed vegetable pickle
  • 10-15 Baby Potatoes
  • 3 medium Potatoes cubed
  • 1 1/2 cup Rice,soaked
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 inch stick Cinnamon
  • 5-6 Cloves
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 7-8 Black peppercorns
  • 5-6 Green cardamoms
  • 1 Black cardamoms crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 medium Onion sliced
  • to taste Salt


  1. Heat ghee in a deep non stick pan, add cinnamon, cloves, bay leaves, black peppercorns, green cardamoms, black cardamom, cumin seeds and saute till fragrant.
  2. Halve baby potatoes. Add onionsto the pan and saute till lightly coloured. Add baby potatoes and potato cubes and saute.
  3. Add mixed vegetable pickle and mix well. Add rice and mix well.
  4. Add 3 cups water and salt and mix well.When the water comes to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook till both potatoes and rice are cooked.
