Ever imagined what life would be without some meetha? The gulab jamuns, barfis, pedas, laddoos, modaks, halwas…you can say let the sugar substitutes rule but not everything is possible with substitutes! One of oldest flavourings and condiments used by mankind, this ingredient is an instant provider of energy. Also available in various types, sugar is either derived from sugarcane or beetroot.

Ingredients for Sugarcane Surprise Recipe

  • Sugarcane juice 4 cups

  • Strawberries 6-8

  • Chaat masala 1/4 teaspoon

  • Crushed ice to serve as required

Method

Step 1

Wash strawberries under running water for a minute. Drain and keep aside. Hull and thinly slice one strawberry and reserve for garnish.

Step 2

Combine sugarcane juice, remaining strawberries and chaat masala and blend at high speed in a processor till smooth.

Step 3

Pour into tall glasses, top it with lots of crushed ice and serve garnished with strawberry slices.
