Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Multiflour Laddoo Recipe

  • Whole green gram (sabut moong) 1/4 cup

  • Whole wheat 1/4 cup

  • Kolam rice 1/4 cup

  • Jaggery grated 3/4 cup

  • Scraped fresh coconut 1/4 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Peanuts roasted and roughly chopped 3 tablespoons


Step 1

Heat a non-stick pan, add green gram and dry roast till it turns light brown. Remove from heat and set aside in a bowl.

Step 2

In the same pan, dry-roast whole wheat and kolam rice, separately, till they turn light brown and put into separate bowls. Cool down to room temperature.

Step 3

Grind together roasted green gram, whole wheat and rice to a coarse powder.

Step 4

Melt jaggery in a non-stick pan. Add ground powder and stir well. Add coconut, cardamom powder and peanuts, mix well and switch off heat. Cool down to room temperature.

Step 5

Divide the mixture into sixteen equal portions and shape them into medium size laddoos.
