Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients for Makke Ki Papdi Chaat Recipe

  • Corn Kernels boiled 1/2 cup

  • Crisp Puri 20

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves 1 teaspoon

  • Green chillies finely chopped 2

  • Tamarind chutney 2 teaspoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Sev 4 tablespoons

  • Chaat masala for garnishing


Step 1

Heat oil in a non stick pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves and green chillies.

Step 2

When the seeds splutter, add American corn and sauté for five minutes. Add tamarind chutney and salt and cook for another two minutes. Set aside to cool.

Step 3

Arrange the puris on a plate and spoon the mixture on it. Sprinkle sev and chaat masala on top and serve immediately.
