And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Kaaley Aloo Recipe

  • Potato boiled and peeled 6-8 medium

  • Black Mustard Seeds 2 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Onion seeds (kalonji) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Black mustard seeds (radhuni) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Black salt (kala namak) 1/4

  • salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns teaspoon

  • Roasted cumin powder teaspoon

  • Sesame seeds (black) teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Cut potatoes into medium cubes.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non stick pan, add cumin seeds, onion seeds and mustard seeds. When the seeds splutter, add potatoes and stir well.

Step 3

Add black salt, salt, crushed black peppercorns, roasted cumin powder and black sesame seeds and mix well.

Step 4

Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes or till all the moisture evaporates. Add garam masala powder and mix gently. Serve hot.
