Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Jerk Chicken Recipe

  • Chicken cut into bite sized pieces 1 kilogram

  • Garlic roughly chopped 2 v

  • Ginger roughly chopped 1/4 inch piece

  • Green chillies roughly chopped 2

  • Onion roughly chopped 1 medium

  • Fresh thyme 1 1/2 sprigs

  • Spring onions roughly chopped 2

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns crushed 1/4 teaspoon

  • Clove powder a pinch

  • Cinnamon powder a pinch

  • All spice powder 1 teaspoon

  • Soy sauce 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Oil 4 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Grind together garlic, ginger, green chillies, onion, fresh thyme, spring onions, salt, red chilli powder, crushed black peppercorns, clove powder, cinnamon powder, all spice powder and soy sauce to a smooth paste.

Step 2

Apply this paste to the chicken pieces. Add oil and mix and let them marinate for two hours in the refrigerator.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick pan and place the chicken pieces in a single layer. Cover and cook on medium heat. When the underside is cooked, turn over and cook till both the sides are evenly cooked and golden.

Step 4

Serve hot.
