History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Gulab Jamun Kulfi Recipe

  • Mini gulabjamuns 12-16

  • Milk 5 1/2 cups

  • Milk powder 3 tablespoons

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 2 tablespoons

  • Sweetened condensed milk 400 grams

  • Khoya/mawa grated 4 tablespoons

  • Almonds blanched and peeled 15-20


Step 1

Boil 5 cups milk in a deep non stick pan and simmer till it reduces to half its original quantity. Mix milk powder and cornstarch with ½ cup milk till smooth. Add it to the milk and cook till it thickens. Add condensed milk and mix.

Step 2

Add khoya and mix and continue to cook, stirring frequently. Crush almonds and add to the pan and mix. Add the gulab jamuns and mix and cook, stirring continuously for 4-5 minutes. Pour into kulfi moulds and let them cool down to room temperature. Keep them in the freezer to set. When fully set, demould and serve immediately.
